Steve and I are DONE with our interviews and our movie reports/summary's. We are going to be working on our final paper and drafting it multiple times in the next week. Adding to our speaking grade, we chose to look at the enlistment ethos that every marine says before they are officially contracted into war. Steve and I have worked hard on this project and look forward to our final paper. It will be nice to work with a partner for our final paper. Also, our different ideas from our interviews and our books will help support our points even better.

Gilly here,
Speaking with the military women that visited our school today was very interesting. She had worked in intelligence which was something that my father worked with. I took down a lot of notes so i can compare them to what my father has to say. I watched act of valor with my dad the other night. Yes, over the phone, starting it at the exact same time. I have hockey this coming weekend so I won’t be doing much for my project. Next weekend I am going to be with my parents in Michigan for hockey so I can ask them plenty of questions. I have written three papers for the project, including my book analysis. I feel like I am in good shape coming into the final stretch for my project. Gilly out.

I'm currently working on my interviews. I have spoke to some family member. I also found a few clips on YouTube that look at the making of the movies, such as Act of Valor. It gives me an inside look at how they made it. In this movie they used real Navy Seals. This make it more realistic in the fighting scenes. They mention how they cant use some military imformation because they don't want to give things away about their tactics. However working with Navy Seals, its much more realistic fighting scenes. I thought that was very interesting. I'm excited to get all of my information done and collected to start comparing results.

Steven Peter Drury Jr. and I plan on watching Black Hawk Down tonight. I feel like we are doing well so far. We have made a lot of progress. We are almost done with everything besides the interveiws. I have one out of five done. I plan to finish those in the next coming week. It will be challenge to get to my cousin who is in active duty now. However if I am unable to reach him I think it wont hurt the projects sucess. Stay tuned!

The Reading

I am currently in the process of writing a summary for my book. This will help me compare it to my interveiws and movies. It will serve as more of a refrence for me in the long run. I was dissapointed with the ending of my book. It was like The Things They Carried. At the end it had to give a long elaborate story about the soldiers life when he got home. Then at the very end of the book the author decided to explain that it was all not true. One reason why I dont read for fun.

Steve and I presented our mid-term project today. I am going to watch Black Hawk down tonight. Things are coming along great. This weekend I am going to do more interveiws with family members. I am having trouble getting stuff out of my dad. I'm hoping this weekend we can communicate about it better.

I have finished my book, The Last True Story I'll Ever Tell, over the weekend. I am preparing for my mid-term presentation tomorrow. Steven Peter Drury Jr. is away until 9:30 tonight. Therefore I will probably be up late working on a productive ten minute explanation of my project.
